Melazzini Mario

Mario Melazzini is a doctor, specialist in General Clinical and Laboratory Hematology, and researcher in onco-hematology.
In 2003, Melazzini was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Last December, he was elected President of AIFA (Italian Pharmacy Agency).
He has held many positions in the Region of Lombardy, among which are Assessor of Health, Assessor of Production, Research, and Innovation Activities, and Assessor of University, Research, and Open Innovation. Founder and past-president of AriSLA, the Italian Foundation for Research on ALS, and currently the President of the Aurora Foundation, which gave life to the “Centro Clinico Nemo Sud” at the University Hospital Policlinico “G. Martino” of Messina.
He is also the Scientific Director for the Centro Clinico NeMo of the Serena Foundation at the Niguarda Hospital in Milan.
Melazzini has published numerous scientific articles and is the author of many books on his experience as a doctor and a patient: the last book was entitles “Lo Sguardo e la Speranza” (The Gaze and the Hope) and was published with le Edizione San Paolo last November.
