Director of the Giovanni Agnelli Foundation 

 

After studying at the University of Turin and specializing at the London School of Economics, he worked as a researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). He was chief economist of FIAT and Telecom Italia and worked for the research department of the Bank of Italy. Since 2008 he has been director of the Giovanni Agnelli Foundation which, under his guidance, has launched a research program on the subject of education, in which he annually publishes (with the publisher Laterza) the Reports on schools in Italy, which deal with the critics of the school system and provide suggestions on actions to be taken. Since 2010 he has been a member of the International Scientific Technical Committee of the MIUR for the development of strategic guidelines for the construction of a national school evaluation system. He is a member of the culture commission of Confindustria and board member of Censis, of Prometeia, an association for econometric forecasts and of the School of Advanced Management Training in Turin. He has carried out research in the field of macroeconomic studies and labor economics, collaborating with leading universities and research institutes in Europe and the United States. In addition to numerous press articles, he is the author of scientific publications on the topics of education, labor economics, industrial economics and communications regulation.
