Fitto Raffaele

Raffaele Fitto is the Minister for European Affairs, the South, Cohesion Policies, and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. 

 In 2000, he ran for the Presidency of the Puglia Region and was elected, becoming the youngest regional president in the history of the Italian Republic. He held this position until 2005. 

 In 2006, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies and was reconfirmed in 2008 when he served as Minister for Regional Affairs and Local Autonomies. 

 In 2010, he also took on the responsibility of “territorial cohesion,” which involved managing the Department for Development and Economic Cohesion. 

 In 2014, he was elected as a Member of the European Parliament on the Forza Italia list. Later, starting from 2019, he was elected as a Member of the European Parliament on the lists of Fratelli d’Italia. 

 On October 22, 2022, he was sworn in as a Minister by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
