Farina Maria Bianca

Maria Bianca Farina is the President of ANIA (National Association of Insurance Companies) and the ANIA Foundation. 

 She is the President of Poste Italiane and the Vice President of FEBAF (Federation of Banks, Insurance, and Finance).   In 2022, she received the title of “Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic” from the President of the Republic.  

Born in 1941 in Rome. Graduated in economics and business administration from “La Sapienza” University of Rome.

She has devoted her professional career almost entirely to the insurance and financial sector. For more than 20 years, she held top management positions in companies of the INA-Assitalia Group first and the Generali Group later. At Poste Italiane, as CEO of Poste Vita and Poste Assicura, he led the rise of the Group’s life insurance company for more than 10 years, bringing it to leadership in the domestic life market in just a few years.

Since December 2015, he has been President of Ania, the association among insurance companies, and the ANIA Foundation. He is also Vice Chairman of the FEBAF (Federation of Banks, Insurance and Finance) Board of Directors.

Since 2014 he has been a member of the Governing Council of AlF, the Financial Information and Supervisory Authority of the Holy See, by appointment of Pope Francis.
In the same year he received the honor of Commendatore dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana from the President of the Republic.

In 2017 he joined the Board of Directors of the Bambino Gesù Hospital.

Since June 2019 he has been a member of COMI (Committee of Market Operators and Investors), an advisory body of CONSOB, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Biomedical University Foundation.

Since June 2020 she has been a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Political Education, established in collaboration with the New Millennium Foundation with the aim of increasing the preparation of future generations in the sphere of political, managerial, professional, economic and social skills.

Actively engaged in social work, she is a member of the Advisory Board of Save the Children, (where for years she also served as a member of the Board of Directors), the Advisory Board of the non-profit organization Sanità di Frontiera and the Honor Committee of the Leonardo Vaccari Institute for psycho-physical rehabilitation and inclusion of people with disabilities.

She regularly participates, as a speaker, in conferences organized by major trade associations, corporations or newspapers on economic, industrial and welfare insurance issues.

And author of numerous speeches in major Italian and international financial newspapers.

Since April 2017, she has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Poste Italiane whose term in May 2020 was renewed for another three-year term.
