Under Secretary of the Ministry of Health with the Government of Paolo Gentiloni from 29 December 2016. Davide Faraone was born in Palermo on July 19, 1975. He is Sara’s dad who is 13 years old. On July 19, 1992, when D’Amelio explodes the bomb killing court judge Paolo Borsellino, Faraone is 17 years old.
Since then, he began his political engagement in the Palermo suburbs, especially in the district of San Filippo Neri, formerly Zen, where he volunteeres and takes care of schools in the area. Mafia struggle, disability protection campaigns and attention to education, university and research are the key points of its political action. In 2001 he was a councilman at Palazzo delle Aquile, then reconfirmed in 2007. Since 2009 he has been the head of the Pd Group’s headquarters at the city of Palermo. He is the first counselor to deal in a precise manner with the state of Palermo’s school building. On April 13, 2008, he became a regional deputy in the files of the Democratic Party. In March 2013 he was on the list for the House of Deputies after he passed the parliamentery elections of the Democratic Party (Collegio Sicilia 1). The newly elected member chooses the Commitee on Employment. He is also a member of the Anti-mafia Commission.
Since December 9, 2013, he has been National Head of Welfare and School of Democratic Party. He has lined up for many battles in favor of school, education and rights of persons with disabilities. Among the organizers of Leopolda, he chose “Big Bang” as title of the second Florentine kermesse. In 2013 he was the founder and president of “Big Bang Sicilia”, a political-cultural association – branch of the national homonymous – that aims to update the public reflection and feed the discussion on the main knots of political and economic innovation on the island.
His commitment to the school, the rights of persons with disabilities and legality continued as Ministry of Education, University and Research. From 10 November 2014 he is Under Secretary of the Miur. From April 2015 he is the President of the FIA, the Italian Foundation for Autism onlus.
