Cristianini Nello

Nello Cristianini is Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Bath. His current research focuses on the large-scale analysis of multimedia content (news and social media) using different Artificial Intelligence methods, and the social impact of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. Cristianini is co-author of two well-known books on machine learning, ‘An Introduction to Support Vector Machines’ and ‘Kernel Methods for Pattern Analysis’, and a bioinformatics book ‘Introduction to Computational Genomics’. He is a recipient of the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit award and currently holds a European Research Council advanced grant. Previously he was and Professor at the University of Bristol and Professor of Statistics at the University of California Davis. In Italy he has published ‘The Shortcut’ (Mulino, 2023), ‘Machina Sapiens’ (Mulino, 2024) and ‘Superhuman’ (Mulino, March 2025)
