Barres de Almeida Ulisses

Ulisses Barres de Almeida is an Astrophysicist at the Brazilian Center for Research in Physics (CBPF), an institute of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, and an external researcher associated to the Max-Planck-Institute for Physics, Germany. He graduated in Physics from the University of Sao Paulo (2003), where he also obtained his Master’s degree in Radio Astronomy (2006). He holds a Ph.D. in High-energy Astrophysics from the University of Durham (UK). Currently he is a member of the MAGIC Collaboration for VHE Gamma-ray Astronomy and the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA), a Consortium to design and build the next-generation of Cherenkov Telescopes, planned to start operations in 2019. His research concentrates in Astroparticle Physics, Gamma-ray Astronomy and Observational Extragalactic Astrophysics. Since 2014, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Study in Durham, a think-thank for insterdisciplinary research.
