Munari Luca

is currently General Manager of SAPIO Life Srl, a leading provider of hospital and home care services in Italy. His career started in 1986 as a clinical research assistant at the National Neurological Institute “Carlo Besta” of Milan, and developed in the field of neuro-oncology and cerebrovascular diseases until he became co-director Neurology clinic of Policlinico San Marco at Bergamo (Italy) in 1991. In 1995 he left clinical practice to join Schering-Plough Co. (Italy) as Manager, health economics and institutional affairs. Since 1998 L.M. Munari has held management positions in the healthcare sector, working as Director of Health Economics in a private hospital trust, then as Director of healthcare planning and purchasing in a Local Health Authority, and finally as Medical Director of a second opinion company based in Milan. Just before his last appointment, he accomplished a full mandate (2003-2007) as the Chief Medical Officer of Niguarda Ca’ Granda Hospital, the main general hospital of Milan and a centre of excellence nationwide.L. M. Munari holds specialty licenses in both Neurology and Biostatistics, a Master Certificate as General Manager of healthcare organizations and received a full training in healthcare finance and administration (School of Management at Bocconi University of Milan and the INSEAD at Fontainebleau). Between 2001 and 2007 he was teaching healthcare policy in the IREF healthcare business school of Milan and in the post-graduate school of Public Health, University of Milan.
