How an artist creates

‘The exhibition is dedicated to the American painter William Congdon who has lived in Italy for many years. The photographs by Elio Ciol, depict some of the artist’s most meaningful works. They represent an important occasion to understand better the techniques employed by Congdon in the execution of his paintings. The photographs which are displayed in the exhibition (which presents the development outlined in the book “Il cantiere dell’artista” – the artist’s building site), capture the most spontaneous moment of Congdon’s creation, and the freedom with which his landscapes take shape.’
