Late nineteenth century: in a French convent near Poitiers, the nuns of the order of the Daughters of Wisdom welcome and care for deaf and dumb girls. But one day a desperate man brings his daughter Marie: in fact, that girl is also blind, and in that institution that double pathology is not contemplated. But a young religious, Sister Marguerite, takes care of Marie Heurtin who is totally incapable of communicating with others and beyond all aggressive and animalistic.
The love and attention of the religious will not fall into the void.
