Zanussi Krzysztof

Krzysztof Zanussi (Warsaw, 17 June 1939) is a Polish film director, screenwriter and film producer.
He won the Venice Film Festival in 1984 with the film The Year of the Quiet Sun and is a member of the Pontifical Council for Culture.
Director of the Polish Film Studio TOR, he is a professor of cimema at the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee in Switzerland where he holds a summer course and is a professor at the Silesian University in Katowice. He was one of the founders of the European Film Academy chaired by Wim Wenders and promoted the European network of interreligious film festivals consisting of the Sacrofilm in Zamoso in Poland, the Days of Cinema and Reconciliation in Notre Dame de La Salette in France and the Popoli e Religioni – Terni Film Festival in Italy.
He is married to Elzbieta Grocholska-Zanussi, a relative of journalist and politician Jas Gawronski, who in turn is the granddaughter of Blessed Piergiorgio Frassati.
He is polyglot: in addition to his mother tongue, he is fluent in English, Italian, French, German and Russian.
