Tamaro Susanna

Born in Trieste in 1957, she graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Experimental Centre of Cinematography) and has worked for television, making scientific documentaries. She is one of the best-known and best-loved Italian writers in the world. She made her debut with the novel La testa fra le nuvole (1989) and achieved international success with Va’ dove ti porta il cuore (1994). His other books include Anima Mundi (1997), Cara Mathilda (2001), Rispondimi (2001), Fuori (2003), Ascolta la mia voce (2006), Baita dei pini (2007), Luisito (2008). In January 2013 he published Ogni angelo è tremendo (Bompiani), in 2014 Illmitz (Bompiani). Alongside these are also narratives for children: Cuore di ciccia (1992), Il cerchio magico (1994), Tobia e l’angelo (1998), Papirofobia (2000), Il grande albero (2009). And essays: Verso casa (1999), Più fuoco più vento (2002), Ogni parola è un seme (2005). In 2014 Susanna Tamaro published the children’s novel Salta, Bart! (Giunti Junior) illustrated by Adriano Gon, with which she won the Premio Strega Ragazzi e Ragazze, and in 2016 she published La Tigre e l’acrobata (La nave di Teseo).
In 2018, one year after the death of Friulian poet Pierluigi Cappello, he published an astonishing autobiographical story Il tuo sguardo illumina il mondo (Solferino). In September 2019, he published his first pamphlet Alzare lo sguardo. Il diritto di crescere, il dovere di educare (Solferino). September 2020 saw the publication of the novel Una grande storia d’amore (Solferino). A novel about the power of life, and of feelings. A fresco of presences and absences across fifty years, highlighting the confrontation between generations and the deepest feelings.
