Sanvito Nando

After graduating with honours in Modern Literature from Milan State University with a thesis on Spanish historiography during the Franco period, Nando Sanvito began his professional trajectory as a journalist in Madrid, when he became involved in a military coup in 1981. At that time, he began sending his reports to Italian newspapers, which at the time had no correspondents in the Spanish capital. After working for the printed press (at Indro Montanelli’s ‘Il Giornale’ and then on his return to Italy at the weekly ‘Il Sabato’), covering news, customs, culture and international politics, he devoted himself to television at Fininvest, starting in 1988 at Telecapodistria and then after a few years at the sports editorial office of the Mediaset television networks, where he contributed to international football. He followed European and World Cup football as a correspondent. With the birth of Mediaset Premium (2005) for a decade he specialised as a correspondent on the sidelines in commentaries of Serie A and Champions League matches. In 2016, with the Premium Sport programme ‘Il gol mai visto’ (The Goal Never Seen), he restored football history – in collaboration with former footballer Luis Suarez (Ballon d’Or 1960) – by digitally reconstructing Alfredo Di Stefano’s most beautiful goal of his career (dated 1957), which had escaped the cameras and photographers, and with this daily initiative he has created a new, unique and exciting event.In the same year, he made his mark with a series of journalistic scoops on the Schwazer case. In 2017, together with the then National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor Franco Roberti, he was invited as a speaker on the topic ‘L’impresa mafiosa e lo sport tra storia e presente’ by the Como Committee of Mayors against the Mafia and Organised Crime. Since 2004, in addition to his professional commitments, he has dedicated himself to educational work in schools, universities, sports clubs, oratories, cultural centres, companies, telling, with the support of video material, stories of sport as a paradigm of living. He is currently a contributor to TV, newspapers, radio and news websites both in Italy and abroad.
