Who we are
Gruppo Musance
MUSANCE was born in September 1981, after a long period of preparation aimed at testing the cohesion and unity of purpose and expression within the group. It was founded with the goal of offering something new—or at least intriguing: dance and music together, created and composed for one another, starting from a shared compositional concept.
This vision took shape in the performance “CITY IS THEATRE”, which—as suggested by the sound design that opens the show—explores urban themes, the harshness of today’s hectic life, and the clashes and encounters with “others”, whether different or similar, with the everyday realities that define the CITY. It then proposes a moment of creative sharing: the THEATRE, where all these tensions converge to give life and energy to the “performance within the performance”—a joy of living, being together on stage.
MUSANCE is therefore not dance set to music, nor music composed for dance, but dance and music together, born from the same compositional idea in an atmosphere of collective work and life—a continuous, inexhaustible “work in progress”, to which everyone contributes with enthusiasm and vitality. The group is coordinated by Patrizia Salvatori, choreographer and dancer alongside Tiziana Neri, Daniela Neri, and Alessandra Marguffi, and by Gianluigi Contesini and Paolo Carli, composers of the music, who perform together with Duilio Pellegrini and Giorgio Cernia.
