Giordo Giuseppe

Giuseppe Giordo is Chief Executive Officer of Alenia Aermacchi, which was created on January 1st 2012 through the legal merger of Alenia Aeronautica, Alenia Aermacchi and Alenia SIA. In 2010 Giordo was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Alenia Aeronautica and Responsible for the Finmeccanica Aeronautics Sector, that is comprised of 12,000 employees around the world with revenues of 2.9 billion Euro (over 4 billion dollars). He is charged with defining the strategy, industrial alliances and managing the operations. Since 2010 he is leading the renewal process of the company with the goal of improving the competiveness of Alenia Aermacchi on the international market. In 2011 Giordo defined a successful Re-launch, Renovation and Re-organization Plan (3R Plan), approved by all the Unions, to improve the response capabilities to the customers’ requests. Giordo has successfully managed the integration process of the fixed wing industrial activities, establishing Alenia Aermacchi, which is now today’s only Finmeccanica Aeronautics Sector fixed-wing company. In the same period, the Company has achieved many commercial successes, thanks to the winning contract for the procurement of the military airlifter C-27J (Mexico, Australia) and the trainer/LCA M-346 (Singapore, Israel). In the aerostructure sector, he has successfully completed the production recovery plan for the supply of parts for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Giordo currently serves as the President of the Assembly of Members of GIE/ATR and the Chairman of the board of Alenia Aermacchi North America. He also serves on the board of Directors of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company and SuperJet International. In 2004, Giordo was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Alenia North America, with the responsibilities of the company’s strategies and operations, industrial investments and collaborations in both the U.S. and Canadian markets. Giordo oversaw a significant expansion in Alenia‘s presence in the U.S., starting from an annual revenue of $15M in 2004 and growing to $300M in 2009. In 2007, Alenia, with its partner L-3 Communications, was awarded the Joint Cargo Aircraft program, which will provide C-27J aircrafts to the U.S. Air Force and National Guard. In 2008, Alenia was awarded its first contract directly with the Department of Defense to provide modernized G.222 medium lift aircrafts to be transferred to the Afghanistan Air Force. Within the civil sector, under Giordo’s leadership, Alenia North America established Global Aeronautica, a joint venture with Vought Aircraft Company, to perform the integration and testing of major parts of the Boeing 787 fuselage. In 2009, he was also given the responsibilities of Deputy-Chief Operating Officer of Alenia Aeronautica, as responsible for the company’s Military Airlift Division. He oversaw the C-27J and G.222 refurbishment programs, including the related engineering, procurement, human resources, production, and support activities of these programs and the associated facilities. After joining the company in 1990, Giordo has held multiple positions in program management and business development of increasing responsibility. Born in Treviso, Italy in 1965, Giordo earned a degree in Economics, followed by a degree in Law. He has also served for three years in the Italian Air Force. Mr. Giordo is married and has two children.
