D’Agostino Francesco

Jurist and philosopher, Francesco D’Agostino, was born on 9 February 1946. He holds a degree in Law and an honorary degree in Philosophy. Since 1980 he has been full professor of Philosophy of Law at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where he has also taught General Theory of Law and Biojurisprudence.
He has also taught at Luiss, the Pontifical Lateran University and several foreign universities (Paris II, Athens, Freiburg, Madrid Complutense, Navarra, Valencia, Granada, Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Santiago de Chile). He has been president since 2001 of the Union of Italian Catholic Jurists and a member of the Scientific Council of the Italian Encyclopaedia Institute and, since its establishment in 1990, of the National Bioethics Committee, which he chaired for eight years. He was also a member of the Pontificia Academia pro Vita.
