On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Don Oreste Benzi, a docu-film will be screened, directed by Kristian Gianfreda, which tells the story of the life and battles of the “priest with the worn-out cassock”, founder of the Comunità Giovanni Paolo XXIII. Don Oreste Benzi was a priest who, starting in the 1970s, chose not to remain confined to his parish but to go out into the streets at night in search of the “least among us”. He devoted himself mainly to women forced into prostitution, often from Africa (but not only), victims of trafficking and reduced to slavery. To them, he offered listening, dignity, and the possibility of a new life.
